By the time we reach our 60’s, we pretty much know what we like to wear. We’ve had many years to develop our style and confidence. But the other side of that is we can become so accustomed to what we typically wear, we’re in a bit of a style rut and don’t even know it.
It’s so easy to just put on the same outfits day after day…it’s simple and you don’t have to think about it. I know. I do it myself quite often. Most days I wear my work clothes, a custom tank or t-shirt for my home staging business, and jeans. That’s it. But when I’m going out with friends, to church, etc. I like to look good.

Do You Know How to Dress for Your Body Shape?
Make Your Life Easier, Girlfriend!
That’s where the stylish clothes for the over 60 crowd come in. Most women in their 50’s and 60’s want to remain chic and stylish, myself included. My personal style is very casual, not a lot of fuss about what I wear, but it is still a distinct style.
Even though I’m not a fashion designer, nor do I follow all of the latest fashion trends, I do know how to put a look together. I have an eye for design, been an Interior Decorator for over 20 years, and talk more about creating a stylish home to love HERE.
As women in our 50’s and 60’s there are some types of clothing that just aren’t good for us anymore and are probably best avoided. You know what I mean…the short shorts, skimpy tops…at our age our skin changes and the crepey look is just not pretty.Styles and looks for women over 50 and over 60. We're never too old to look great! Click To Tweet
I’ve seen woman who are in great shape in their 50’s, 60’s and 70’s when I’m down at the beach (Ft Myers Beach, FL), and even so, that little 2 piece number just isn’t quite the thing. Don’t do it…TMI.

I’ve put together some simple looks for you because I know that some women have a hard time knowing what looks good together and what doesn’t. It’s similar to the design clients I work with when it comes to decorating their homes. They know what they like, but don’t know how, or lack the confidence, to create the pulled-together look they want.
My goal is not to ‘style you’…that’s not what I do. But, if you’re looking for inspiration, style ideas and some online sources to find unique and interesting pieces, I’m you’re girl!
Let’s take a look at some looks that I’ve put together for you, from our friends at Amazon and also from Target.
I’ve become a fan of Amazon for women’s clothing and accessories…never thought I’d say that, but I am!

Fashionable Looks for Women in the 50's and 60's
That are Budget Friendly!
These Style Boards are all created with simple, budget friendly clothes and accessories from two online sources: Amazon.com and Target.com.
I'm a big Target fan and am there almost every day. Because I don't have a lot of time to shop for clothes, don't have a need to wear 'labels' and am not into spending hours on the hunt for the perfect piece of clothing, I can find many casual pieces right there while I'm picking up a few groceries or home decor items for my business.
Amazon is an online source that I've used for a long time, Amazon Prime to be specific, but only recently have I realized how vast their clothing and accessories are for women (the entire family, actually). Amazon Prime has so many benefits, including free 2-Day shipping on many items. It's so worth the annual fee (as of this writing it's $99)
Each Style Look includes:
- Pants or Slacks
- Top - most can be worn tucked in or not...depending on your figure and/or preferences
- Jacket or Sweater - perfect for weather and also for extra coverage
- Shoes - stylish but comfy
- Purse/Jewelry/Accessories - these finishing touches are what really pulls the outfit together
Details on any of these pieces can be found by clicking on the individual images below the Style Board. I know...it's hard to buy clothes online because you want to try them on. But if you are confident of your size, tops/jackets/sweaters/accessories/shoes can work well. I have purchased a number of slacks and pants online as well. It's an individual choice for sure.
Use these boards for inspiration, or check out individual pieces to see how they might fit into your wardrobe and style. And if you love the entire look, why not?
1) Casual and Stylish with Blush Pink Jacket
I love the styling of the blush pink jacket in this group, and I'm not a person who wears pink often. The push up sleeves and wide lapels are great! It's also really easy on the budget.
My other favorites are the shoes...they look very comfy and stylish, of course. And, the watch. It's elegant and unique with the black face and ivory band. I like to wear a watch even though I have a cell phone with the time on it. Watches are timeless, don't you think?
This is a very budget friendly group of stylish options, with nothing priced higher than $87 as of this writing. You don't have to spend a lot of money to look great.
As women in our 50's and 60's we usually want to have choices and layers with our clothes. We still get really warm sometimes, if you know what I mean...
2) Neutral, Casual Daytime Look
I don't know about you, but I love my jeans. I wear them almost every day...when I work, shop, for casual dining, even to church (churches in Florida are very casual!) So I have to include a Style Board with jeans. I like the fitted yet comfy tailoring of these high waisted jeans.
The scoop neck tee can stand on it's own, particularly with the added touch of the circle pendant with triangle stone, a unique look. Then, add the pleated coffee colored blouse (this is so well priced I had to look twice), ivory cut out booties and straw zipper clutch, and you've created a comfy yet stylish look.
Best of all, there is no item on this board currently with a sales price of more than $40.

3) Dress It Up a Bit
I love tank tops. I know, I know...it's not what many women in their 60's wear anymore. It has something to do with this thing that happens to your upper arms as you age...
But I still find them to be comfy, versatile little friends that I can dress up or down. And that's what makes them workable for a mature woman.
Throw a sweater, jacket or other garment over them and you have a stylish, put together look that will also help keep you cool. I love the deep gold of the 3/4 sleeve sweater in this collection.
Layering is great when it's cold outside or the temperature where you are is on the cools side. But, a couple of layers of long sleeves can be extremely warm. That's where a tank top, or a cap sleeve top, saves the day.
Add a scarf if you feel that your decolletage is not something you want to expose to the world. This Style Board is all about solids and understatement, but the scarf could be the focal point if it has a beautiful, bright pattern.
An ivory trouser, black booties and some bangle jewelry complete the look of this Style Board. Click on the individual images below the collection for shopping information, where you'll find each item priced at less than $40.
