Welcome to Coffee with Candi, a time for us to have a chat every week on Friday and catch up.
Well, I’ll have a chat with you about my week…what’s been happening, the good the bad the exciting, the boring…most importantly, what have I learned about life, my family, my friends, work, health, looking my best…I’ll spill it honestly and openly with you. Always with a fresh cup of hot, black coffee in my hand. I think better with java in my paw.
And, I’ll share one special thing that has brightened up my week, so it can potentially make you smile, too. It might be a new gadget, a piece of furniture, a nifty clothing find, a recipe, or something to make your life easier. It’s my gift to you that will keep on giving. 🙂
What’s on my mind this week:
in no particular order…however the thoughts came into my little head
It’s been an eventful week in some ways, frustrating in others. But ultimately it’s all good.
I’ve made the decision to turn the focus of my work to online, and begin the process of selling my home staging business. It’s going to take some time, and how it actually happens is not clear yet. I have some options under consideration and will see which one turns up the interest. Being the planner that I am, I’ve allowed a number of months for this to take place.
Home Staging has been a lifeline for me since my husband passed away 1 1/2 years ago. I’m not sure how I would have coped without the ‘distraction’ of a busy, busy business to keep me occupied every day. And, it paid the bills, which is always a plus.
I can see, though, that the business has changed. Or, maybe I have changed. That is probably a more accurate statement. And with that comes a different direction.
Home Staging is something I am very good at, and I am taking that knowledge and turning it into an online course, which is very exciting. My ideal candidate for the course (I think) is going to be women in midlife who might be a)recently retired from a career but not ready to live the ‘retiree’ life just yet, b) a bit bored with their stay at home life and are looking for a new challenge, c) someone who is still working and wants to transition into a business of their own.
If someone has a flair for decorating and is willing to work hard, a home staging business can be rewarding and lucrative. More to come in the weeks ahead. 🙂
This week has also had it’s frustrations in the online work that I’m doing with this business, Inspire My Style. I love everything about it and have learned so much about blogging, as well as made some new online friends.
A significant aspect to growing an online business is social media. I work with other bloggers in groups and we help each other by supporting others’ blog posts, tweets, pins, insta photos, etc. Everything we do starts with a Facebook group.
Well, Facebook has decided to remove most of my links after I post them in these groups. They appear, then disappear a few minutes, or sometimes an hour, later. I know it’s been happening to others as well, and it is very frustrating.
I don’t spam, and am very careful about how and when I participate in these groups. Bottom line? Facebook won’t respond to requests for help, so I’m on my own with this. Fortunately there are groups of bloggers who offer support through their sites, and I enjoy sharing my posts this way. And, there are other ways to grow social media/my blog. I will prevail.
One Special Thing – Father’s Day
I am so fortunate to have my dad with us still…he is 96 years old and entered hospice care a few weeks ago. But he’s enjoying the days and determined to stay with us a little longer. We went out to dinner a few weeks ago to celebrate my brother’s birthday. Are my folks not the cutest??? I love them dearly.
How about you? Are you celebrating with your dad or honoring the memory of your dad? Share your thoughts, and a photo if you’d like. It’s Father’s Day.
Until next time,
Hope you enjoyed Coffee with Candi. Subscribe to Inspire My Style and I’ll deliver this right to your inbox every week!
