Coffee with Candi 9-7-2018

(Last Updated On: September 7, 2018)

Welcome to Coffee with Candi, a time for us to have a chat every week on Friday and catch up.

Well, I’ll have a chat with you about my week…what’s been happening, the good the bad the exciting, the boring…most importantly, what have I learned about life, my family, my friends, work, health, looking my best…I’ll spill it honestly and openly with you. Always with a fresh cup of hot, black coffee in my hand. I think better with java in my paw.

And, I’ll share one special thing that has brightened up my week, so it can potentially make you smile, too. It might be a new gadget, a piece of furniture, a nifty clothing find, a recipe, or something to make your life easier. It’s my gift to you that will keep on giving. 🙂

What’s on my mind this week:

in no particular order…however the thoughts came into my little head

Coffee with Candi Inspire My Style

Coffee with Candi Inspire My StyleHow’s the weather where you live? I’m back home in SW Florida today after spending almost a month in the Midwest at my parent’s place in Michigan.

For many, the season is going to be making a change soon. Depending on where in the world you live, it could be getting cooler and the air turning crisper…or, you might be welcoming Spring!

For me, it’s back to the humidity and warm temps of Florida, along with the most active part of our annual hurricane season. Hopefully I’ll have nothing to report in that regard!

But I have to say that it is good to be back home. I love living in Southwest Florida 🙂

Coffee with Candi Inspire My StyleI decided to do something I have not done in years…not since my husband and I flew to Florida regularly when we had a 2nd home there. I purchased a seat upgrade to sit in best under seat carry on bagthe front row. Literally.

After the last four weeks of helping my parents, caring for my dad, experiencing his home going, participating in his Celebration of Life service, I decided to something for me. The cost wasn’t too exorbitant, less than $70, so I decided to treat myself to seat #1A.

Traveling back and forth to MI regularly since January has been an experience, too, and I have to say that I LOVE my under seat carry on bag! It has been getting quite a bit of use. It has fit under the seat of every airline I’ve flown on recently, so it is always free.

I use is as my ‘purse’ as well as the carry on, so it is the only item I bring on board the plane. Check it out here.

Coffee with Candi Inspire My StyleHere’s a simple hack for you that worked well for us yesterday.

The bathroom door at my mom’s apartment had been squeaking…louder every day. It was getting kind of annoying. We didn’t have any WD40, so I googled a simple remedy.

We used a cotton swab dipped in olive oil, and rubbed in on the top of the hinges as well as on the joints of the  hinges. Worked like a charm!

One  Special Thing – eshakti.com

eshakti boucle tweed jacketI know what you’re thinking…”what in the world in eshakti.com?”

I had the same reaction when my daughter-in-law told me about the site recently. But I have to say, it’s pretty cool.

Eshakti.com is a women’s fashion clothing company. Not so exciting, I know. But what makes them unique is that they offer affordable custom clothing that is delivered quickly, usually in about 2 weeks.

Let’s take the boucle tweed jacket with fringe trim, shown at left. If you order this piece (I love it, by the way), you’ll select a standard or custom size, provide your height, and decide on neckline, sleeve and length options.

Options that are offered, like sleeve length, are not upcharged. There are some options you can select that will add $9.95 to the cost, which is quite reasonable. This coat, with the standard options, is $101.00. Not bad.

I read more about the company on their website. They ship directly from the factory to you, so that is how they can provide such affordable, customized fashion.

The company factory is in India. They provide details regarding the work environment and people who construct these garments, to ensure that customers know how and where their purchases are made, and that the company maintains high standards for conducting business.

It is an interesting concept for sure, and I plan to check it out a bit more thoroughly, possibly write a post about them. What do you think?
