Welcome to Coffee with Candi, a time for us to have a chat every week on Friday and catch up.
Well, I’ll have a chat with you about my week…what’s been happening, the good the bad the exciting, the boring…most importantly, what have I learned about life, my family, my friends, work, health, looking my best…I’ll spill it honestly and openly with you. Always with a fresh cup of hot, black coffee in my hand. I think better with java in my paw.
And, I’ll share one special thing that has brightened up my week, so it can potentially make you smile, too. It might be a new gadget, a piece of furniture, a nifty clothing find, a recipe, or something to make your life easier. It’s my gift to you that will keep on giving. 🙂

What’s on my mind this week:
in no particular order…however the thoughts came into my little head
It’s been a busy week, but a fun time with my oldest son and his family. So I’ve not spent the usual amount of time working, and that was nice, too. We had quite a few plans for what we wanted to do, where we hoped to go during that 7 days, but the reality is that a 5 month old and a 3 year old have to take priority. Our activities, other than a short walk up to the playground, were a bit limited, but made happy and lasting memories nonetheless.
My kids knew it was the last time they’d be visiting me in Florida before I move back to Michigan, so there were certain things we absolutely wanted to fit into our time, like watching a sunset on Fort Myers Beach, visiting the Friday evening Art Fest in downtown Fort Myers, enjoying a delicious breakfast at First Watch, and splashing around at the community pool.
We took turns caring for the kids and a great time was had by all (if you discount the lack of sleep 🙂 ) I’ll get to see these kids, as well as my other two grandchildren, regularly when I relocate. That is a definite plus!
Now that the party is over, so to speak, it’s back to a healthy eating plan. I fell off the wagon while the kids were here, of course.
I’ve said this before, but it still surprises me how quickly I can gain a pound or two these days. It seems like I just smell a freshly baked loaf of bread, or walk by a slice of key lime pie and poof…2 pounds appear on the scale.
Well, it’s not exactly like that. I think it actually involves putting those foods in my mouth. But still, I can see how aging impacts not only the look of my body, where the weight is concentrated, but also how quickly I can add a few pounds.
Today is a new day, and with it I am once again watching the carbs, maximizing the protein and committed to losing a few pounds. I refuse to let them stay on and then have to buy clothes in a bigger size. It ain’t gonna happen.
I published a post recently with holiday gift ideas for the person who has everything or is difficult to buy for. While researching that post I found a really cool site, UncommonGoods.com, that really has the most unique gift ideas I’ve seen in a long time.
They have great gifts for family, friends, co-workers, anyone really, and the prices can fit any budget. Here are a few of the current new and popular gift items:
Take a look at Uncommon Goods and see what you can find – I think you’ll agree it’s a great place to find unique gifts!
