Book Review – The Summer Sail

(Last Updated On: November 1, 2019)

I received a complimentary copy of The Summer Sail by Wendy Francis to read and review. When I read the overview I was pretty excited about it, as it sounded like the perfect Summer read. And, it was!

Three college friends reunite every year to catch up on the happenings of the past 12 months. They are steadfast, loyal and truly love each other as sisters. The trio of friends couldn’t be more different in terms of personality, lifestyle and life choices. But, as we all know, with true friendship, none of that matters.

Now in their 40’s, one of the friends, Abby is celebrating her 20th wedding anniversary, and she invites her friends Lee and  Caroline to enjoy a week long Bermuda cruise to celebrate and also to witness the couple reaffirm their wedding vows. Thus the story begins…

Any time a group of friends are together, there will be some drama as well as some conflict. The Summer Sail is no exception, but I thoroughly enjoyed the overall positive vibe of the story line. Each of the three friends is dealing with issues, unanswered questions, uncertainties about the future and relationship challenges. I know…it sounds like all of our lives, doesn’t it?

And that is what I enjoyed so much about this book. It’s about life. The fact that the story takes place on a beautiful cruise ship with Bermuda as a destination is just a plus 🙂

As the story unfolds we are also treated to the character’s adventures and activities on the cruise ship, aptly described by the author. Have you ever been on a cruise? I was, many years ago. Reading The Summer Sail brought back some of those happy memories and details I hadn’t thought about in a very long time.

There is so much to enjoy while on a cruise. Relaxing by the pool, enjoying a mid day drink and a good book…no schedule to keep other than ship activities and destination adventures…and no electronics!

The melding of the characters, story line and cruising made for a very interesting and enjoyable read.

If you’re looking for a book that will make you smile, draw you in, surprise you at times, and tug at your heart, you’ll want to grab a copy of The Summer Sail now!  Available in hard cover, paperback and on Kindle.
