Welcome to Coffee with Candi, a time for us to have a chat every week on Friday and catch up.

Well, I’ll have a chat with you about my week…what’s been happening, the good the bad the exciting, the boring…most importantly, what have I learned about life, my family, my friends, work, health, looking my best…I’ll spill it honestly and openly with you. Always with a fresh cup of hot, black coffee in my hand. I think better with java in my paw.

And, I’ll share one special thing that has brightened up my week, so it can potentially make you smile, too. It might be a new gadget, a piece of furniture, a nifty clothing find, a recipe, or something to make your life easier. It’s my gift to you that will keep on giving. 🙂

OH. MY. GOODNESS. Next Thursday is Thanksgiving! It is early this year, as the 4th Thursday of the month falls on the 22nd. Although my day will be spent quietly this year, I have so many fond memories of extended family time around the table on Thanksgiving Day. Growing up, we always went to my mom’s side, the Italians, for our holiday celebration. As you might expect, there was plenty of food, including spaghetti, and lots of lively conversation! Good memories.

How about you? What are your Thanksgiving plans this year?


On a related note, this is the time of year when we tend to eat too much, too often, with foods we wouldn’t typically indulge in. It can be fun, but can also have some less than desirable results.

Our friends at Livati shared a list of superfoods that can help boost your digestion. It might be helpful to consider incorporating some of these into your diet, to help keep your gut balanced and healthy, as this plays a key role in controlling your mood as well as detoxing your body. This is especially important as women in midlife!

  • Fiber – includes chia, flax, acacia, sweet potato, and fruits.
  • Probioticskombucha, fermented foods (sauerkraut), yogurt, and kefir are some of the foods that are high in probiotics
  • Omega 3-6-9 – this includes foods such as coconut, flax and hemp
  • Enzymes – foods that are rich in enzymes include celery, apple, wheat grass, and carrots
