What’s on my mind this week:
I made a video of myself the other day for a course I’m taking, and was pleasantly surprised at how youthful my face looked in it. I’ve been working on my natural face lift for almost a year to the day, so it should be doing something!
However, I was not happy with the neck wrinkles. I’ve been using a very good firming neck cream, but mine is a major project! So, I decided to take some further action in a similar way as my natural face lift. No invasive procedures, fillers, etc.
I did some online research and found a 3 minute video with 5 neck exercises to tone and firm. I really like it and would encourage you to take a look. It doesn’t matter how old you are, you’re never too young to start working with the muscles in your face and neck! Take a look here.
We all know that our bodies change as we age, no surprise there. It can be easy to start comparing ourselves with other women of a similar age, or, for us who are over 50 (or 60, or 70) we can slip into the trap of comparing ourselves to more youthful women. That can be so destructive to our confidence and self esteem. And, it is so needless.
I found some very helpful thoughts from our friends at the blog from Boom by Cindy Joseph and wanted to share some of them with you:
Focus on what your body can do, not what it can’t
“My body enables me to dance, to move through the world, to eat amazing food, to work, to pick up my child, to create, to garden, to cook. That’s what a body is for. Bodies are here to carry us through the world, not to fit some randomly imposed ideal of so-called “beauty.”
If we’ve been physically able all our lives, we tend to take that ability for granted. But actually—whatever degree of ability our bodies have is an enormous gift.
When I get hung up on how my body looks, a few minutes remembering how lucky I am to have my basic physical abilities tends to clear that right up.”
Remember your body is a miracle
“It’s not just our physical abilities (whatever they are) that are an enormous gift—it’s the basic structure of our bodies themselves.
We are all complexes of billions of cells, working in concert with each other in gorgeous, elegantly designed interconnected systems to keep our blood flowing, our limbs moving, our brains working, our digestive systems converting food into fuel.
One look at our basic biology reminds us that we are walking miracles.When you touch into that reality—even a little—it’s a lot easier to love our bodies.”

Now that Spring is sort of around the corner, I need to think about my feet. Well, not really my feet, but what I put on them.
I moved from South Florida to Michigan right before Christmas so of course my tootsies have been in boots whenever I leave the house. Fingers crossed that we’re done with that snow nonsense and the weather will warm up.
Having lived in Florida for 12 years, my shoe selection consisted of sandals and flip flops. They will serve me well when summer rolls around, but during this in-between time I need shoes that have a bit more coverage.
Thus, we bring in the ‘mule’. The perfect transition for me that will cover the tootsies but not force my feet into full fledged shoes…yuck.

I love the fabrics, composition, patterns and heel variations. They are well priced at less than $30 each, so maybe more than one pair will end up in my closet. 🙂
