Welcome to Coffee with Candi, a time for us to have a chat every week on Friday and catch up.
Well, I’ll have a chat with you about my week…what’s been happening, the good the bad the exciting, the boring…most importantly, what have I learned about life, my family, my friends, work, health, looking my best…I’ll spill it honestly and openly with you. Always with a fresh cup of hot, black coffee in my hand. I think better with java in my paw.
And, I’ll share one special thing that has brightened up my week, so it can potentially make you smile, too. It might be a new gadget, a piece of furniture, a nifty clothing find, a recipe, or something to make your life easier. It’s my gift to you that will keep on giving. 🙂
What’s on my mind this week:
in no particular order…however the thoughts came into my little head
I love to see beautiful, inspirational home decorating images online…but I don’t love all of the ads that take FOREVER to load. It’s gotten so bad that I don’t enjoy the stories and photos that eventually load. Seems like there must be a happy medium between ads and information. Do you get tired of seeing all those ads?
One of the new adventures I’m experiencing as a midlife blogger is making videos. Short, informational videos that enhance a post topic or provide other, specialized information for my readers. Have you ever tried turning on the video and speaking in complete, clear sentences for about 2 minutes? No big deal, you think to yourself. Give it a try sometime, it’s not as easy peasy as it sounds. As I create videos they become part of my YouTube channel. Have a look, and give me a thumbs up on the videos if you like what you see!
How are your video making skills? Care to share?
Anyone else finding there aren’t enough hours in the day? I have a business to run (gotta make the cheese and pay the bills), a blogging business that is just taking shape, healthy lifestyle goals for myself that have to remain a priority, family time (for me it’s long distance but still top of the list) and somewhere in there some time to just stop and relax for a minute. Oh, and I need to sleep, too. But I always try to start out the day with a quiet word with the Lord and a prayer of thanks that I have the capacity to do these things. Helps keep it all in perspective. Is your schedule too full?
When it comes to the part of the day where I relax and zone out for a bit, I like to watch Netflix or Amazon Prime. I’ve gotten so accustomed to watching a program without commercials it’s hard to go back to ‘regular’ tv (unless it’s a PGA major!) I like to watch political dramas, so my current Netflix choice is West Wing. It’s an oldie, running from 1999 for 7 seasons, but it’s smart, intelligent and (when I can stay awake through a whole show) thought provoking. If you watch TV, what is your current fav?
I’m guessing that many of you reading this post are coffee drinkers, and more than a few use some type of coffee maker that utilizes K-cups. They are such a wonderful creation, aren’t they? Neat and clean, makes a quick cup of coffee…no muss no fuss. But what about the used K-cup? The inside contents are biodegradable, but not the plastic shell.
I tried to cut off the top of the cup and separate the inside stuff. Note to self: don’t do that! Nasty, messy, icky. But I really wanted to recycle the cups and not throw them away. It is said that the amount of K-cups thrown into landfills could circle the planet more than 11 times.
That is not what I want to be contributing to! So I did some research and found this nifty little device that cuts the top off of the K-cup so you can neatly recycle the plastic cup and throw away the insides. It’s clean and simple. Learn more about Recycle a Cup!
