Welcome to Coffee with Candi, a time for us to have a chat every week on Friday and catch up.
Well, I’ll have a chat with you about my week…what’s been happening, the good the bad the exciting, the boring…most importantly, what have I learned about life, my family, my friends, work, health, looking my best…I’ll spill it honestly and openly with you. Always with a fresh cup of hot, black coffee in my hand. I think better with java in my paw.
And, I’ll share one special thing that has brightened up my week, so it can potentially make you smile, too. It might be a new gadget, a piece of furniture, a nifty clothing find, a recipe, or something to make your life easier. It’s my gift to you that will keep on giving. 🙂
What’s on my mind this week:
in no particular order…however the thoughts came into my little head
I love to walk outdoors for exercise, as you know if you follow my blog. There is something about walking in the fresh air that helps me to relax and also to think, plan and ponder. Our Florida days are getting warmer and more humid, so a walk outside also means that quite a bit of sweating (I call it ‘glowing’) will take place.
Some of my family and friends can’t imagine why in the world I’d want to get all sweaty and yucky…why don’t I work out at the gym, they wonder? For me, I’ll take sweaty and sticky any day, just to be outside in the fresh air. My blogging friend, Verla, speaks often about the physical and emotional benefits of spending time outside.
So unless it’s pouring rain, storming or there is a hurricane comin’, I’ll continue to walk outside, breathe the fresh air and refresh my mind and spirit. How about you? Do you enjoy outdoor activities?
I was standing in line at the store the other day and there was a woman in front of me. Nice lady, pleasant features, well kept, but the back of her hair looked like she had just gotten out of bed. From the front she looked great, so maybe she just forgot that people see her from all angles. Or maybe she just didn’t care. And that’s fine…it’s none of my business. But it served as a reminder to me that if I take the time to style my hair in the morning, I should check the back of it to make sure it’s been combed and styled. Note to self…
One area that really bugs me is the crepey, wrinkley skin on the underside of my arms. It’s gross. I have done strength training for years, but not always faithfully. And I think it tends to happen no matter what we do. But I’m not going to give in easily. About 6 weeks ago I found these arm exercises that are specifically designed to work on that underarm area. I didn’t take any ‘before’ photos so can’t show you my progress, but I think that doing this workout at least 3 times a week is starting to make a difference. It’s not a miracle or anything, but the crepey look and the jiggling seem to be improving. Do you have any exercise routines that work well for you?
Recently, I found a really cool lipstick from Color the World that I love for several reasons. First, it is hand poured and created with high quality natural ingredients that won’t bleed or feather into fine lines (yes, we have some of those as we age). The product is packaged with recycled materials to ensure minimal impact on the environment…the tube feels like a very sturdy cardboard. And third, every color lipstick represents a cause or charity, and 10% of profits are donated to them.
So of course I decided that I had to try a tube of this lipstick. It is similar to my affection for CAUSEBOX, the seasonal subscription service that provides beautiful products for women that support environmentally friendly, artisan crafted companies around the world.
The color I chose is Huntress, and the charity it supports is ‘Give a dog a forever home‘. I love dogs, but I bought this shade for the color, not the cause. It’s a bit lighter than I anticipated but I still really like the look and feel of it. The lipstick is made fresh for every order. Pretty cool.
Check it out and see what you think. I’ll order from Color the World Lipsticks again.
Until next time,
