Coffee with Candi 7-13-2018

(Last Updated On: July 12, 2018)

Welcome to Coffee with Candi, a time for us to have a chat every week on Friday and catch up.

Well, I’ll have a chat with you about my week…what’s been happening, the good the bad the exciting, the boring…most importantly, what have I learned about life, my family, my friends, work, health, looking my best…I’ll spill it honestly and openly with you. Always with a fresh cup of hot, black coffee in my hand. I think better with java in my paw.

And, I’ll share one special thing that has brightened up my week, so it can potentially make you smile, too. It might be a new gadget, a piece of furniture, a nifty clothing find, a recipe, or something to make your life easier. It’s my gift to you that will keep on giving. 🙂

What’s on my mind this week:

in no particular order…however the thoughts came into my little head

Coffee with Candi Inspire My Style

Coffee with Candi Inspire My StyleIf you’re keeping up with new posts on the blog(and I really hope that you are), you’ll notice a series of shorter posts this week. They are part of a new collection, HOME, HEALTH & YOU. It is a series of short posts that cover a variety of personal improvement, health and home decor topics.

They include helpful resources, tips and advice. I hope you enjoy them! Please feel free to comment at any time.

Coffee with Candi Inspire My StyleIf you think you’re too old to do something new, think again. I decided about a year ago that I wanted to have straighter teeth. Yes, at 62 years old. That is not the typical age to enter into the whole braces thing. But I wanted to make this change, so I did my research and found Invisalign.

The aligners (that’s what they’re called) are changed out every week or so, and as you progress through them, your teeth gradually become straighter. I chose this method because they are clear, so not as noticeable. And, you take them out to eat, so you’re not stuck with metal in your mouth for months on end. I wore my aligners for about 10 months.

I wish I had a clear ‘before’ photo so I could show you the dramatic change in my teeth, but I never wanted to show them, so really don’t have that to show you. But, I will say that the inconvenience, and the investment, of Invisalign was well worth it!

I am happy to smile now 🙂 If you or anyone in your family is curious about how Invisalign works, just follow the link and check it out.

Coffee with Candi Inspire My StyleUm, I have something to say.  I don’t like the changes that are happening to my body as I age, particularly around my middle. It seems to be growing of it’s own accord, just a little bit, probably nothing that anyone else would even notice. And I know…if this is the worst thing that happens to me, I am extremely grateful. And I am. Just wanted to whine for a minute 🙂

Coffee with Candi Inspire My StyleOne Special Thing – Ottomans

I know what you’re thinking…ottomans? Seriously? Yep. I really love using these versatile little friends when I’m working on a design project with a client, doing a home staging project, or in my own home.

What I love about ottomans, or foot stools, is the size, versatility, and the fact that this one small piece can make a big style statement in a room. And, they are also very functional. Let’s take a look at four ottomans in very different styles:

ottomans from wayfair

1. Lorna Pouf  colorful, bohemian style pouf that will instantly garner attention and liven up a space

2. Mid Century Modern Ottoman  put your feet up, sit on it or use it to hold your stuff

3. Square Storage Ottoman  transitional style with clean lines that will fit into just about any style, hold a bunch of things you’d rather hide, and offer a spacious area for display or function

4. Script Style Ottoman with nailhead trim perfect for a casual, rustic style home, with a touch of elegance, too

These are  just a few examples of the thousands of ottomans to choose from. Where would your home benefit from one of these little treasures? Search today 🙂

Until next time,

Hope you enjoyed Coffee with Candi.

Hi Candi, great to share another coffee with you and hearing your thoughts. I enjoyed your new series on Home, Health and You and found some decorating inspiration for our apartment at the Coast. Good for you to use Invisalign. I’ve heard of it in Australia but you are definitely fitting in with my post this week about ‘You are never too old’….. If we don’t like something about ourselves then we should change it. The ottomans look great, I bought a couple from K-Mart which we use watching television. I love putting my feet up after a long run. Have a great weekend and catch you for coffee next week!

Hi Sue, I agree that it’s never to late to make changes in ourselves and our lives. That helps me stay motivated, knowing that I can always learn and grow (and have straighter teeth!). Enjoy your weekend as well!

  • Candi, I’ll be back often–you’re very inspiring. Was just lamenting with an over-50 friend yesterday that we have no one to show us the ropes or tell us what to expect on this crazy adventure of getting to be women of a certain age!
