Coffee with Candi 8-3-2018

(Last Updated On: May 25, 2019)

Welcome to Coffee with Candi, a time for us to have a chat every week on Friday and catch up.

Well, I’ll have a chat with you about my week…what’s been happening, the good the bad the exciting, the boring…most importantly, what have I learned about life, my family, my friends, work, health, looking my best…I’ll spill it honestly and openly with you. Always with a fresh cup of hot, black coffee in my hand. I think better with java in my paw.

And, I’ll share one special thing that has brightened up my week, so it can potentially make you smile, too. It might be a new gadget, a piece of furniture, a nifty clothing find, a recipe, or something to make your life easier. It’s my gift to you that will keep on giving. 🙂

What’s on my mind this week:

in no particular order…however the thoughts came into my little head

Coffee with Candi Inspire My StyleWell,  August is here alreadyit amazes me how quickly time passes! In some ways it seems like we just said Happy New Year, and now we’re more than halfway through 2018.

A part of me wants to analyze how productive I’ve been. Have I met my goals? What is my income level so far this year? Am I using my time well enough? Blah, blah, blah.

Then I come to my senses and realize that although I want to get things done, always want to live comfortably and not worry about the next dollar, all of the other stuff really doesn’t mean much at all. What means the most to me is my family, my health and being grateful for all that the Lord has blessed me with this year.

Coffee with Candi Inspire My StyleIn my ongoing quest to keep on a healthy track with exercise and eating, I decided to create my own little plan that is tailored to my specific needs.

I have 3 priorities when it comes to deciding what foods will be part of my menu:

  • foods that help me to feel fuller
  • foods that will help reduce or lose belly fat
  • best high fiber foods for weight loss

It’s in the development stages as far as sharing it with my readers, but I’m finding that some of the suggested foods and activities overlap into at least 2 of the categories, and some are included in all 3.

I’m not going crazy strict with the foods on the lists, although I’m trying to be as faithful as I can based on what’s happening in my life. So far I’ve been able to keep myself satisfied, not too hungry, and the bloat I sometimes feel (oh, and the tummy that comes tagging along now that I’m in my 60’s) is better. The scale is mildly cooperative, but that is not the first priority.

I want to feel good, eat healthy, clean foods and minimize the processed stuff. I will be creating a post and sharing in more detail with you soon!

Coffee with Candi Inspire My StyleOne Special Thing – Skechers Shoes!

I’m really not a shoe fanatic. Most of the shoes I buy are like the rest of my wardrobe…moderately priced, not over the top stylewise...I like to look good, stylish, but not go crazy with the latest trends. And when I find something I love, I really love it!

skechers tennis shoes kaylee metallic lace up

My tennies were literally coming apart at the seams so it was time for a new pair. I found these Skechers  and really liked the style. They don’t look like the typical tennis shoe, but boy do they ever feel great when I’m walking!

The style is call the Kaylee Metallic Lace Up, although the laces are not real, it is actually a slip on, which I love! I wear them with the invisible ‘inside the shoe’ socks and they’re perfect for any type of casual outfit. I found these at Target.

Today I decided that it was time for a new pair of flip flop style sandals. Living in Florida I pretty much live in these types of shoes when I’m not working on a staging job. I’ll wear a pair of sandals skechers yoga foam flip flopsor flip flops until they fall apart. Such was the case with my latest pair, which I loved, so it was time to scout out a fresh pair.

I went to the local outlet shopping center and looked at a lot of shoes! The pair I finally decided on were, once again, Skechers. Didn’t plan it that way but the style, color and comfort were all spot on.

These are called the Cali Women’s Meditation-Ocean Breeze Flip Flop.
The material is flexible and the top has a lacey look to it, so they can be dressed up just a bit if desired. What I love the most is the comfort, though, as it feels like I’m walking on little pillows. There are many other styles available, too, from Amazon.

Hi Candi! I have my coffee here and enjoying catching up with you. I like your 3 point plan for eating and might give that a try. I also agree that we can get too caught up in life and miss out on enjoying our days. I’ve been trying to find some balance and feel I am finally achieving it. I love sketchers but we can’t buy them at Target in Australia. The pair you have shown would be perfect for walking and sightseeing on our holiday to Japan in October. August is my birthday so I’ll be celebrating 61 in a couple of weeks. Thanks for the coffee and see you next week! 🙂
