Welcome to Coffee with Candi, a time for us to have a chat every week on Friday and catch up.
Well, I’ll have a chat with you about my week…what’s been happening, the good the bad the exciting, the boring…most importantly, what have I learned about life, my family, my friends, work, health, looking my best…I’ll spill it honestly and openly with you. Always with a fresh cup of hot, black coffee in my hand. I think better with java in my paw.
And, I’ll share one special thing that has brightened up my week, so it can potentially make you smile, too. It might be a new gadget, a piece of furniture, a nifty clothing find, a recipe, or something to make your life easier. It’s my gift to you that will keep on giving. 🙂
What I’ve learned this week:
in no particular order…however the thoughts came into my little head
Elderly parents are like sweet, young children. They think simply, rely on their kids for support and help in making decisions. There are limits to how much they can process information and problem solve. I have to remember that when talking with them, but, it has nothing to do with my respect for them as people and as my parents. I love them even more now. Are your parents elderly? What challenges do you face?
I think I can do anything, and I have to remind myself that I’m going to be 63 yrs old soon. I am strong and able, but I’m not 25 anymore. My body doesn’t always keep up with my mind…darn it. How are you adjusting your activities as you get older?
It is up to me to keep my life under control. You’d think it would be so simple, living alone with my family all in another part of the country. But, I am admittedly a workaholic and sometimes don’t know when to stop. I’m working on that, and am the only person who can ultimately keep my life in moderation. Do you find yourself focusing on something in your life more than you should?
I’m using Amazon.com for more and more purchases, even some home decor items, and I’ve checked out some clothing options. Never thought of Amazon for those things, usually household stuff. But you really can buy literally anything on Amazon. The Prime 2-day shipping is awesome. I bought some bedding for a staging job and I needed it fast. The pricing was amazing and I’ll get the bedding two days before we do the job. Cool. What is your go-to shopping source?
The older I get, the less cooperative the scale is. Seems like every year around my birthday (it’s coming up soon) the silly scale wants to go up a pound or two. I pay too much attention to the numbers and not enough to how my clothes fit. I’m going to work on that. As long as the clothes fit I’m not going to stress over the number on the scale. How do you deal with the changes in your body as you mature?
One Special Thing: My brand new Car Air Vent Cellphone Holder. Maybe it’s old news to you, but I’ve been searching for the right gadget to keep my phone from flopping around while I’m driving. I’ve tried a couple of other products that were supposed to be the latest and greatest, but they sure weren’t for me. So I found this [amazon_textlink asin=’B073R68TSH’ text=’Car Air Vent Holder’ template=’ProductLink’ store=’inspiremystyle-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’d0e7eac3-2a9a-11e8-a4ed-514fd938133e’] on Amazon’. It was super simple to put together and attach to the air vent in my car. The clamp is adjustable and not difficult to work, and holds my LG phone perfectly! No more floppin’ phone, thank goodness!
It’s amazing how the simple things can make such a difference, right?
