Learning how to embrace your natural beauty is something that more women are gravitating to, particularly as we age. The aging process is not kind to our faces and bodies, so there’s a tendency to want to turn back the clock and return to that earlier, more beautiful self that we keep seeing in our minds.
My motivation for keeping fit, though, is not to change who I am or alter in a drastic way how I look. I’ve worked hard to accept my relatively ordinary face, short arms, pudgy legs, and curves that in my teenage years I’d have given anything to eliminate. Actually, I thank the Lord every morning that I have all of my working parts! I am blessed.
I do, however, want to make sure that I am focused and motivated to live my best life as a woman over 50!
I wonder sometimes how my youth, my teenage years, may have gone down differently if I had been more accepting of my uniqueness and not tried so hard to fit in with the crowd. But that’s what most of us do in our teenage years. There is something to be said for getting older and wiser, and living through the life experiences that help us mature.
Embracing our natural beauty by aging naturally is not something that has been taught to us or conveyed by social media in the past, although I think there is a step in this direction, and I’m so happy to see it, as this will always help the self esteem that can wander off the path as we get older.

How to Look Beautiful, Naturally, Every Day
The key to learning how to embrace the beauty within is so simple, yet can be so difficult to achieve.
The most important aspect of natural beauty begins on the inside:
- How do YOU see yourself?
- Do you look in the mirror and immediately begin the litany of what you don’t like about the image looking back at you?
- Did you know that a negative perception of yourself will show in your demeanor and ultimately on your face?
YOU have the power to change how you look and feel. Yes, you can embrace the face and body that God gave you. If you believe that on the inside, in your mind and in your heart, your natural self, your inner beauty will shine through. It know…it sounds like a cliche but it really is true.
Some people find the use of affirmations to be helpful with self acceptance.
When you come to the point in your life that you can accept, enjoy, and love the ‘natural you’, it will result in a confidence that is palpable. Will every head turn when you enter a room? Maybe so, or maybe not so much. But if you walk into that room with your head held high, confidence in who you are and how you look, that’s all that matters!
Your face will reflect that positive self acceptance and you’ll actually look more beautiful in a natural and appealing way.

Now That You’ve Embraced that Natural Beauty, What Comes Next?
In the world according to Candi (that would be me) when our natural beauty is shining through, there are some simple ways to enhance it while remaining true to ourselves and our natural appearance.
I’ll be the first to tell you that I’m not an expert in the field of health and beauty. But I’ve been around the block a few times, am confident in what I believe to be true and practice it daily. These actions are all a part of an ongoing self care plan. We all need one of those!
My style of living is simple, and I work on embracing natural beauty as well as use these natural anti aging tips myself, every day:
1 | As I’ve mentioned above, putting effort into keeping your body well-tuned has several benefits. You’ll look your best, feel better, increase self esteem, and help your body remain strong as you age. Exercise is key!
2 | Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, energize your muscles, and keep skin healthy, and looking soft and supple. It’s so easy to do, doesn’t have to cost anything and the bottom line is, we need water to survive. Look beautiful, naturally, and keep that glowing skin by drinking water every single day!
But there is also the common sense factor when it comes to our diet. My particular philosophy is everything in moderation in my diet. I don’t have a huge appetite and generally make good choices.
You might subscribe to a particular philosophy of eating that works for you. I’ve read some incredibly informative posts from fellow bloggers and seen delicious, healthy recipes that are such great choices for a healthy diet!
4 | Use a light hand with makeup. It really will enhance your natural beauty, I promise.
My makeup routine takes about 3 minutes…gel-based tinted moisturizer to even out the complexion, a bit of concealer under the eyes, some color on the cheeks and lips, definition for the eyebrows, and some mascara on my upper lashes only. That’s it.
Finding quality anti aging skincare products helps me to look my best, too.
Find what works for you and go with it. You might decide to forego the makeup entirely, and I think that’s great. Whatever your decision, embrace it and you will encourage your natural beauty to shine through.
5 | DON’T SMOKE!! If you are a smoker, please stop. Today. That’s all I’m going to say on the subject.
