Ingredients
  • 4slices sprouted breador any type of bread you enjoy
  • 2 – 5 oz cans Wild Planet Skip Jack Tunaor canned tuna of choice
  • 2 to 3tablespoons Dukes Mayonnaiseor similar
  • 4 slices Sargento Cheddar Jack cheeseor sliced cheese of your choice
  • 1 tomato, slicedoptional
  • 2 to 3tablespoons soft butter
Instructions
  1. As you begin to prepare the Tuna Melts, heat a saucepan on Med-Low to Medium heat, but no higher. You don’t want the Tuna Melt to heat too quickly or burn the bread.
  2. Open and mix the tuna with the liquid in the can (if you are using the Wild Planet tuna) until well blended. If using another brand of tuna, drain well (or follow instructions on the can) Add mayonnaise and mix well.
  3. Place about 3 to 4 oz. of tuna on each slice of bread.
  4. Top with 2 slices of cheese per sandwich.
  5. Add 1 to 1 1/2 slices of tomato per sandwich, if desired.
  6. Place the other slices of bread on top of each to complete the sandwich. Butter the top piece of bread.
  7. Carefully place the sandwich butter side down in a heated sauce pan.
  8. Butter the top piece of bread on each sanwich.
  9. Saute the sandwich for 2 to 3 minutes, watching it so the bottom doesn’t get too dark. Flip the sandwiches and saute the other side.
  10. When the cheese is melted and the sandwich is crisp and medium brown on both sides, remove from heat. Let stand for about 1 minutes. Cut each sandwich in half and enjoy!
